G-HEAT X LILLE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: WARMING GLOVES IMPROVE THE LIVES OF RAYNAUD'S SYNDROME PATIENTS

G-Heat x CHU de Lille : Les Gants Chauffants améliorent la vie des patients atteints du syndrome de Raynaud

Romane Benderradji |

Raynaud's syndrome, a condition affecting between 3% and 10% of the population, is characterized by temporary disruptions to blood circulation, creating daily challenges for patients. However, a glimmer of hope is emerging thanks to a collaboration between G-Heat, the leading brand in heating and cooling garments, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Lille, and the Association des Sclérodermies de France (ASF).

THE CHALLENGES OF THIS DETERMINANT COLLABORATION FOR RAYNAUD'S PATIENTS

G-Heat s mission is to make technical clothing accessible and improve the quality of life of people, particularly those suffering from Raynaud's syndrome. After Damart halted phase 2 of the Raynaud's disease study, the Lille University Hospital and the ASF turned to G-Heat for a new exploratory study. This crucial research was fully funded by G-Heat, reinforcing its long-term commitment to healthcare.

In February 2023, a usage study demonstrated the usefulness of G-Heat gloves for Raynaud's syndrome patients, while identifying areas for improvement. A new scientific study is already planned, aimed at answering the crucial question: "Is glove equipment equivalent to drug treatment?" This approach could offer an alternative to often lengthy and costly lifelong treatments, thus providing a suitable medical device for people suffering from this disease.

UNDERSTANDING RAYNAUD'S SYNDROME AND ITS IMPACT ON DAILY LIFE

Raynaud's syndrome, characterized by temporary blood circulation disorders, makes everyday life difficult for patients. The attacks, triggered mainly by cold, cause symptoms such as numbness, changes in skin color and pain. Affecting between 3% and 10% of the population, 75% to 90% of whom are women, the disease can be triggered by a variety of factors, including cold, humidity, stress, tobacco and caffeinated drinks. Equipment G-Heat, including heated gloves, offers a practical solution to alleviate these symptoms and protect against the harmful effects of cold, thus helping to prevent attacks.

STUDY RESULTS AND INNOVATIONS G-HEAT

The results of the study identified key technical features, such as the thinness of the material, the lightness of the batteries, the variety of colors and the impermeability of the gloves. In response, G-Heat launched a new version of thin, lighter and more flexible heated gloves, featuring a non-slip surface in the palm and tactile zones on the thumb and index finger. The under-gloves have also been optimized with windproof and waterproof features.

In partnership with the ASF, G-Heat works closely with patients to improve products by taking their feedback into account, notably by developing a lighter battery. These adjustments aim to provide more effective and better adapted solutions for people with Raynaud's syndrome, with products segmented according to use and degree of illness, with the aim of reducing their handicap by half. G-Heat thus aspires to become an essential reference in the healthcare field.

TOWARDS THE FUTURE : CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND COMMITMENT TO HEALTH

In partnership with the ASF, G-Heat continues its commitment to constant product improvement. Adjustments aimed at providing more effective and better adapted solutions are underway, with a particular focus on the development of a lighter battery. G-Heat aspires to position itself as a reference in the healthcare field, contributing to the reduction of disability associated with Raynaud's syndrome.

The collaboration between G-Heat, the Lille University Hospital, and the ASF marks a significant step forward in the management of Raynaud's syndrome. With 6% of Raynaud's cases uninvestigated, the findings of this research may provide guidance for other similar initiatives.

Until now, the cause of this syndrome has remained largely unknown to the general public, with many people unaware that they even suffer from the condition. Initiatives such as these play a crucial role in raising awareness and offering real solutions, as well as support that can have a real impact on their lives.

The brand's heated gloves are proving to be a promising solution for improving patients' lives. With a new scientific study in the pipeline and ongoing innovations, G-Heat is a major player in the search for innovative solutions for people affected by this disease.
